The Business Systems Analyst works cross functionally with Subject Matter Experts the company’s global organization to envision, design and action the development of new software systems and enhancements to existing software systems that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s business processes. This role strongly focuses on business process re-design, re-architecting existing business processes, and employing LEAN principles in the development of our Quality Management System (QMS) and manufacturing shop floor systems.
The Business Systems Analyst works closely with global project teams and analyzes the company’s business processes, documenting system functional requirements and actioning software development activities.
The Business Systems Analyst develops an expertise in the company’s business processes and procedures and collaborates with IT management and cross-sectional project teams to gather and document business requirements including current state of legacy business processes and associated software systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Actively understands widely available industry software capabilities and works with Subject Matter Experts to envision solutions using the company’s owned software solutions or incorporating solutions not within the company’s current IT toolbox.
Evaluates existing ERP systems to identify areas for improvement and implements solutions to enhance production control and efficiency.
Gathers, analyzes and reports on production data to support operational decision-making and strategic initiatives.
Develops gap assessments supporting the company’s global vision, and professionally and effectively documents design and functional requirements for new tools / systems. Analyzes the cost of implementation against the benefits and recommends project advancements where appropriate.
Diagnoses and resolves system issues to ensure minimal disruption to production operations.
Actions project development using internal and external technical resources as needed to accomplish objectives. Supports and collaborates with internal programmer analysts on a daily basis.
Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes and user manuals.
Assists in ERP system upgrades and implementations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Acts as the liaison to department managers and end-users, facilitating end-user testing, and develops/documents end-user work training materials.
Works closely with shop floor teams and other departments to align ERP functionalities with organizational goals and needs.
Provides technical support and training to end-users on ERP functionalities, ensuring effective utilization of the system.
Works with IT and business unit management teams to develop a change management program for IT. Works with change champions across multiple site locations to develop communication and training plans.
Works outside of software development, supporting other technology implementations such as shop floor production technology unified communications, and collaboration software. Stays current with industry trends and ERP technologies to recommend enhancements and innovations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience in software development, technical implementations or business management.
Manufacturing environment experience required (Automotive or Aerospace preferred)
5+ years’ experience in ERP systems analysis in an industrial manufacturing or production environment. Experience documenting business requirements, technical writing, and delivering project documentation deliverables.
Experience leading at least one ERP migration
Strong planning and organization, and the ability to document work breakdowns, breaking large/complex requirements into logical phases/steps in delivering system functionality.
Demonstrated project management experience, with a strong degree of independence in working with stakeholders to define and document requirements, conducting/leading meetings and developing consensus among diverse stakeholders representing disparate product lines across global site locations.
Knowledge/experience working in manufacturing sector highly preferred.
